Steven Osprey - Chief Technologist

What is your role here at TSG & how do you support our customers?

I’m the Chief Technologist here at TSG. Essentially it’s my job to:

1) Ensure the Microsoft and complimenting technologies we have on stack are best in class to deliver success for our customers

2) Lead and enable our teams in understanding requirements for delivering success

3) Lead and enable our teams in proposing compelling solutions that deliver maximum value for the long term

I spend most of my time working with our Solution Design and Customer Success teams to widen and clarify our understanding of potential projects and services for customers, and translating what can be at times a complex technology solution into language customers can engage with.

Tell us a little bit about your professional work history and the most important things you learned about building strong partnerships with customers

I started in a graduate desk based sales role with TSG in 2007 following University in Glasgow. From there I took an interest in ERP and specialised in account management of Pegasus customers in Scotland and the North East, before moving into a Team leadership role for the UK. This was a fantastic way to learn how organisations across all sectors actually worked, how they made and invested money, and how they stayed compliant.

In 2015 I took a role in our Product Management team, owning our applications product stack, relationships with suppliers and leading our Presales team. I learned a huge amount by being exposed to the product strategies of Microsoft, Sage, Pegasus, Qlik and others – and quickly gained an appreciation for the benefits of having a clear technology strategy for our customers, where these critical components work together rather than in isolation.

I took on my current role in 2019 to bring my ‘bigger picture’ experience to our customers and customer facing teams.
