What to expect when you apply for a role with TSG

When applying for a role at TSG your application will be reviewed against the requirements of the position. If your details are identified as a suitable match, you may be invited to an initial informal video chat with a member of the talent team to discuss your background and experience in more detail. Following this, providing you are still a strong match, your details will be submitted to the hiring manager for review.

Should things be progressed to a formal interview thereafter, we will discuss diary availability and advise who you will be meeting with, the interview format, and provide any preparation along with written confirmation. Once all interviews are complete and a decision is reached, the talent team will provide feedback directly.

Job Title: Resourcing and Talent Manager  

As the Resourcing and Talent Manager for TSG I devise and roll out any attraction strategies. I manage supplier relationships and contracts, select and assess routes to market, as well as implement and manage the overall recruitment process from an operational perspective. I am also involved in day to day recruitment activity supporting the business with finding great talent. In addition to this, I carry out existing employee discussions to support with career progression, business improvement and staff retention.

Job Title: Internal Resourcer 

As an Internal Resourcer I play a key role in our recruitment process. I identify and attract talent to fill positions across multi discipline areas within TSG. In addition to managing incoming applications and coordinating the end to end recruitment process, I headhunt through a variety of attraction methods. I also host and attend networking events and careers fairs to engage with potential future talent whilst driving brand awareness in the market.

Working towards net carbon zero

TSG takes its responsibility to the environment seriously and as such we are working towards net carbon zero. In early 2024 we achieved zero landfill status, we have a recycling rate exceeding 50% across all sites, and by April 2024 we had reduced our overall company emissions by 44.69%

Why did you initially apply for TSG?
I had recently moved back to Scotland from England and was working as a Supervisor in a clothing shop. I was looking to move into an office job within a sector I was interested in and where I could utilise my customer service skills.
 
Tell us about your journey with TSG since joining?
I have been with TSG 18 years; they have been extremely supportive in helping me develop through internal & external training. Allowing me to grow my career from when I started as a Call Logger, through to my move across to the Service Desk and now my progression into the PMO as Project Manager, where I have also secured my Prince2 certifications.

Why did you initially apply for TSG?
I was working in CRM application support and felt that my future career options would be limited in such a specific environment. I self-funded a couple of networking certifications to broaden my knowledge and then made the move to TSG.
 
Tell us about your journey with TSG since joining?
I initially worked as part of the wider service desk team, resolving 2nd line support tickets from clients. I transitioned from 2nd line to an Internal role, then later to Service Desk Team Leader - 3rd Line where I managed a team of 7 of TSG's premier engineers. Following this, I progressed into a Service Desk Manager position, to Head of Managed Services and am now an Operations Director within the business.

Why did you initially apply for TSG?
Initially, I didn't apply for the role at TSG, my previous company that I worked for were outsourcing their IT to TSG at the time. It was decided that I would join this journey together with the company being onboarded and have myself as a point of contact at TSG for the company.
 
Tell us about your journey with TSG since joining?
I started as Service Desk 1st Line providing technical support for our customers. An opportunity to apply for a Junior CRM Support Consultant had appeared and I saw this as a new challenge for myself. I started supporting and learning additional practices including SharePoint, Power Platform, Power BI and Qlik which led to me being promoted to a Senior Microsoft Solutions Support Consultant.

Why did you initially apply for TSG?
I had just passed my degree and was working in a local supermarket at the time. I was looking to put my love and curiosity for technology to good use. I was asked to come in for an interview and started soon after that! 
 
Tell us about your journey with TSG since joining?
I started off in a junior role then worked my way up to a mid-level position within the SystemCare team. During that time I started to take an interest in the Microsoft SharePoint world and I was soon asked to take on the role of SharePoint Support Consultant. Since then I have moved to the consultancy side and worked my way up to a Senior Consultancy position.

Kick Start Your IT Career with TSG Academy

The TSG Academy is a 12 months paid accelerated training programme that starts within our 1st line technical service desk. Those who are successfully employed as part of the programme  will develop their skills and knowledge via a variety of methods including on the job training, peer mentorship and industry recognised certifications. The programme is measurable through achievable milestones. Those who successfully complete the programme meeting all objectives are expected to move into a permanent technical support role upon completion.

Tell us about your experience with the TSG Academy
My experience so far with the TSG Academy has been outstanding involving a lot of learning and growth. As someone with no professional background in the IT industry, the TSG Academy was the perfect entry point as it gave me the opportunity to ease into the industry.
 
Talk us through what you have been doing and what’s included in the programme?
With the TSG’s Academy programme, I am currently working as part of the 1st line service desk support team where we are a customer’s first point of contact for technical problems. We triage technical support cases, make initial contact with customers and assist in troubleshooting and solving technical problems.
 
How do you feel like the programme has benefited you?
The programme has provided me with an entry point into the IT industry, giving me access to hands-on training, skills, support and experience to a large number of different technologies and processes. It has also helped me grow and improve my soft skills as we interact with customers at a daily basis, and we also largely collaborate with colleagues from different areas within TSG. The programme has also provided me with the opportunity to gain industry standard Microsoft certifications.
 
What are your goals for the future and how is the TSG Academy supporting those?
I’m looking forward to further progressing into working on more complex cases and helping to solve more complex problems with the 2nd line team in the service desk. To support with this, I am currently working towards obtaining an associate's level Microsoft certification. As part of this progression, I also hope to explore different areas within IT which will help me decide and narrow down on a specific area that I would like to specialise in further. I have great interest in the security side of IT which is very involved and covers a wide range of different topics.

Tell us about your experience with the TSG academy?
My experience with the TSG Academy has been nothing short of incredible. Ever since day one here at TSG I have felt valued, appreciated and truly incorporated into #TeamTSG. Now that I have had some time to learn, understand and work with the technology, I am much more confident but there is always something else to learn here at TSG!
 
Talk us through what you have been doing and what’s included in the programme?
With the TSG Academy, we have been working towards milestones to achieve getting onto the second line here at TSG. During my first year, I have worked with some incredible people and have had the chance to expand my knowledge and experience to levels I never thought possible. Working with the Head of People Development & Microsoft Training, I was able to start honing my soft skills to improve communications with client and colleagues. I have been working towards my Microsoft certifications which has also allowed me to develop my knowledge of Azure, Microsoft and security aspects.
 
How do you feel like the programme has benefited you?
The TSG Academy has benefitted me in so many ways. With having no prior experience to IT, I believe the TSG Academy has supported and helped me gather valuable experience and knowledge in the industry and I have loved every second. After just short of a year here at TSG, I never believed I would be in the position I am in now with the knowledge, skills and relationships I have made.
 
What are your goals for the future and how is the TSG Academy supporting those?
My goals for the future would be to move into consultancy to get a more hands on approach with the tech we troubleshoot on a day to day basis and also having more client experiences to deliver solutions that will streamline processes and tighten security amongst other excellent benefits.
